Various inspirations are drawn from my Pacific Northwest surroundings both past and present. I am fascinated how elements of atmosphere and space envelope objects, and how shapes emerge and relate in space via light and color. Images and ideas develop in my sketchbooks where inspiration discovers me and I'm compelled to paint. My drawings and paintings explore newly discovered and reoccurring themes of life's encounters at the water's edge.
Born in Pacific County WA, I grew up surrounded by colorful people, wildlife, rivers and ocean beaches, magically nestled in the rain forests of the Willapa Bay area. I studied fine art at Central Washington and Oregon State majoring in painting and drawing. In l983 I moved to Everett WA, where I raised my family, and presently live with my husband, Fred, and our grey tabby, Monty Python. I work in Studio 206 of the Mukilteo Art Building near the waterfront of Old Town Mukilteo.
